Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of characters who will branch out from the central cast to undertake their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (played by Travis), the agile character (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
With an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.
Hence, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three separate parties: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
As described by the DM, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might appear mismatched, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose death initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.
Casimir then settled his debts and fled to a secure base in the remote area, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants vengeance.
- The adventurer has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a nasty environment.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their reputation as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the team enter locations they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, Teor swore a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are wanted by the authorities that control the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:
- Thimble and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and Wicander turned against the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the family.
This results in them no alternative but to head to the remote area in quest for the traitor.
What’s Next?
According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the combat party will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to form the Questers and Strategists tables.
Fans can look forward to learning which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the season’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on October 24.
